These are from January of 2009, but I do like most of them, so I thought I'd post it on here. These are from writing_game on LJ, by the way.
Title: Child’s Play
Prompt: Incendiary
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 200
Total Points: 3
Yannesse stood at the door, elegant eyebrows arched over his red eyes. There was something off with the large golden room, as though a shroud of pale darkness were covering everything before him. He moved forward cautiously, his eyes glancing about. The room was silent.
“Amy?” he called, frowning.
“Amy’s not here~~!” answered a singsong voice. Yannesse froze just as he took another step, his long black hair falling forward with the motion. Silently, he lifted his gaze and mentally uttered a quick prayer.
A child’s laughter filled the room, and a small figure materialized before him. Jerking backward, he toppled to the floor, and found himself staring up at a young girl who appeared unmistakably similar to Amy, her dark hair laced about her face in curls and large cyan eyes stared down at her. Yannesse could just see the tips of her long slender ears behind the dark curls.
“A-Amy,” he choked.
“No,” answered the girl, a manic smile appearing on her face, “I’m not Amy, because your beloved Amy would never do this.” With that, she lifted a small hand and snapped.
Immediately, the shroud of pale darkness he had noticed earlier burst into flame around him.
Title: Decision
Prompt: Knot
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 145
Total Points: 5
Amy shifted nervously, her boots pressing into the dirt on the threshold of her home. On one hand, she thought bitterly, if she stepped over the invisible line separating her from her people, she could easily be exiled by the Council. On the other, if she stayed, her people would face certain extinction; the strange disease would certainly take them all out.
If only her husband hadn’t vanished. Amy sighed; it was hard being the queen of a different race’s kingdom, even more so when she was now running it alone.
No, she corrected herself; I am not alone in ruling this country. Despite the fact that my only companions are fat fools who cannot see past their noses... She sighed again.
I will have to untangle this knot of mysteries myself. This was her last thought as she stepped forward and towards her people.
Title: God Save Our Demon King
Prompt: Mindset
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 192
Total Points: 7
Crazy, they called him. A demon, they said he was. A curse, they thought of him. And he briefly wondered if his best friend thought that way of him too. He hoped not. That would be too much to handle.
He deserved such name-calling, he supposed, but it pleased him that they feared him enough to speak of him in hushed whispers, yet it frustrated him to no end that they were the ones fueling the rebellion.
He secretly admired the rebellion in the sense that it reminded him of his own origin, of how he came to be king. Perhaps things were finally coming to a full circle for him, should the rebellion actually grow powerful enough, perhaps they would overthrow him as he did the last king. And speaking of the rebellion, was that the sound of screaming and shouting outside his window?
He paused, looking up from the documents he had been signing. Shaking his head, he stood and went to prepare himself for battle.
For now, he decided, he was just content to play the rebels’ crazy demon king.
Perhaps because that was what he was.
Title: What She Owed
Prompt: Money for Nothing
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 162
Total Points: 9
Several coins slid into his hand, and Rune found himself looking up bewilderedly at the small brunette woman before him. Tsubame smiled at him politely, her dark green eyes bright.
“I can’t accept this,” he said, holding the money out to her, “You won my skills for the entire duration of the trip, remember? There’s no need for payment.”
She closed her large eyes. “Keep it,” she stated firmly, “It’s the least I owe you for sticking with me the entire way.”
“But you need it for a roo…”
Her eyes snapped open suddenly and she stared into his eyes, power burning in hers. Rune could feel himself melting under her suddenly dark gaze. “Do not presume that I can go without a room in the kingdom that belongs to my greatest friend.”
He nodded stiffly, his neck felt sore.
“Good,” she said, satisfied, before turning and simply walking away.
She was miles away when Rune realized he still held the coins.
Title: A Reunion
Prompt: Palatable
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 200
Total Points: 12
Yannesse kept his gaze on the desk as he heard the door open, his narrowed red eyes only narrowing further.
“Well then,” said a soft female voice, causing him to pause and smile slightly, “I’ve never seen you this concentrated before.”
He looked up then, about to put down the quill he had been holding, only to drop it in surprise at the pleasant sight before him.
A small woman stood shyly near the door, long brown hair tied up neatly in a ponytail with a blue ribbon, large green eyes watching him calmly as he slowly stood and made his way to her. He could not help but let his smile grow.
“You’ve grown,” was all he could say, his breath gone at the sight of how her appearance had developed.
“So I have, big brother,” she replied, returning his smile, only for it to falter a moment later.
“Is something wrong?” Yannesse frowned—Tsubame never let her smiles falter.
“Yes,” answered the brunette, sighing as she moved past him to stand near his desk. She glanced down briefly at the papers on his desk before turning to face him once more. Then she spoke: “Rune’s back.”
He cursed.
Title: Of Angels and Orders (and the Girl who Despised Them)
Prompt: Rank
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 198
Total Points: 13
If there was one thing Tsubame absolutely loathed about the world, it was the pale, half-naked figure standing before her. Pale tendrils of white mist drifted about him as he gave her an impassive smile; his small blue eyes were blank as he absently raised a hand to brush aside pale golden hair from his face. A pair of large, white feathered wings were folded against his bare back.
She had to admit though, he had a rather well-sculpted body….
She paused, before mentally kicking herself.
“I don’t see why I have to go see Yannesse,” she said slowly, her mind still rather dazed from her not-so-literal kick in the head.
“Because, of we Celestials, you know him most.” Even his voice was silkily smooth, making her want to turn and gag.
Tsubame grimaced, controlling herself. “Which is why I won’t to do this,” she murmured, lowering her gaze, “I’m not your lackey.” When he said nothing, she hesitantly allowed herself a fleeting glance at the angel, before recoiling in horror at the smirk plastered on his oh-so-perfect face.
“My dearest Tsubame,” he said, “Who said anything about this being an order from someone as lowly as me?”
Title: Beginning Descent
Prompt: Scruple
World: Original=Etreverse (Gen.2)
Word Count: 200
Total Points: 15
The night was cruelly cold as it seeped into her; she shivered, pulling her black cloak closer around her. The cold remained though, and she let herself slip away slowly, allowing her instincts to take control.
Her people were all around her, screaming and shouting. She was helpless to do anything for them, they had made sure she knew that the day she had arrived in this forlorn city.
That her people hated her for being with a human had been a surprise for they had always been accepting of the many things in their world, and they had welcomed her husband with open arms.
“Traitor!”
She blinked, looking around. The speaker had gotten away and normally she would let such a thing slip, but today…
This is the last straw, she thought, if my people will not let me help them...then I shall have to put them out of their misery. Cyan eyes narrowing, she raised both her hands, calling to mind several of the darker spells she had once learned.
Within hours, the city was gone, and she stood there, among the purple flames.
That she hadn’t a single scruple for the deed was only the beginning.

Title: Over the Top
Prompt: Extra

Pairing: Onesided Karat x Gray
Word Count: 200
Total Points: 25
Gray mumbled to himself as he picked his way through the packed hall; the blond man was in a sea of people of varying size and color and species, and every last person present was chattering with another. Despite the constant greetings he received along the way, he managed to squeeze his way through, slipping into a small, empty room.
“Enjoying the crowd?”
“No,” he answered frankly, turning to find a golden-haired woman in a long dark cherry dress there, “Really now, Karat, isn’t all this a little extra?”
“No,” she answered flatly, stepping closer as her large blue eyes narrowed.
“It seems like a lot of people for a birthday…” said Gray quietly, “And then of course, there’s the fact that I don’t even know any of the people here, let alone half.”
Karat smiled wryly as she moved closer. “It’s a special birthday…” she whispered, sliding a gloved hand onto one of his own.
“Karat…” He closed his eyes and sighed, pulling his hand away. “What would Bull say?”
Her face went blank as she took a step backward. “Good evening, Gray,” she stated, “I hope you enjoy the party.” With that, she turned and fled.
Gray sighed.

Ten seconds. Enjyu fired, his muscles rippling with the force of his shot. Narrowing his lavender eyes, he settled his gaze on his dark skinned opponent.
Nine seconds. The Bdaball missed its target, and he cursed, firing again. His opponent sneered.
Eight seconds. This time, he landed a hit, and he could not help but smirk slightly as the other lost his grip momentarily.
Seven seconds. His opponent began a rapid-fire attack, the onslaught of Bdaballs barely letting Enjyu dodge. He had faced worse than this before, he thought, though the memory of Biarce wasn’t much comfort.
Six seconds. There was little he could do as he dodged, simply deciding to wait out the barrage. Briefly, he wondered where Liena was.
Five seconds. His opponent stopped to reload, and Enjyu jumped to action, firing repeatedly.
Four seconds. He had to end this now, before everything got worse.
Three seconds. “Get down!” he shouted and his opponent stopped, blinking at him.
Two seconds. A low rumbling filled the air, and he launched himself over the table, tackling the other to the ground.
One second. “Get off me!” shouted the small boy beneath him, struggling.
Zero.
The world around them shattered.

Terry groaned and opened his eyes, looking around to see…nothing. A strange dark emptiness surrounded him, and he panicked, thinking briefly that he had gone blind, before noticing that he could in fact, see his hands.
So he was not blind after all. Satisfied, he set about to checking if his entire body was okay.
“Everything okay?” asked a voice behind him as he was stretching his legs. He stopped and turned, coming face to face with a man in tight purple clothing, his flaming red head cocked to one side as he watched Terry with amused lavender eyes.
Terry’s eyes narrowed. “Enjyu.”
“Yeah, that’s my name,” answered the other, smirking, before his face suddenly went blank. “Before you ask, I don’t know where we are and if we’re dead or not. What I do know is that we’re stuck here.”
Terry’s mind faltered as he absorbed the information. “You mean…I’m stuck here with…you?!” His eyes widened “Crap.”
“I couldn’t have said it better myself.”
