[FFIV] Ten Golbez x Kain Sentences

Because I don't quite have the energy to do fifty. Anyway, the prompts are the first ten of Set Delta from 1sentence. Wrote this because there is a distinct lack of English Golbez x Kain fanfiction.

01 - Air

Kain knows he's falling in too deep, that Golbez's hold over him is just going to get tighter and tighter, but he can't bring himself to pull away for a fresh breath.

02 - Apples*

Kain doesn't see the apple coming until it hits him in the face, and he's greeted with a disappointed-looking Golbez; the warlock promptly mutters, "I was hoping you would catch it."

03 - Beginning

Golbez holds him close, a hand protectively on his shoulder, as they watch the Giant in all its glory; Kain is thankful for the comfort of such a constant and familiar thing in the madness of the changing world.

04 - Bugs

Kain is well aware that Golbez holds the nobility of Baron in low regard, yet for some reason Golbez tolerates his presence.

05 - Coffee

Golbez is so quick to spring to life in the morning that Kain has no time to catch up.

06 - Dark

Once, Kain catches his reflection in the mirror, and he doesn't remember having dark rings around his eyes before, nor does he remember ever losing any sleep.

07 - Doors

Both servants and soldiers know better than to even attempt seeking out either of them when Golbez's doors are locked.

08 - Drink

When they meet again many years after Zeromus, one of the first things Golbez does is to take Kain out for a few drinks.

09 - Duty

If there is one thing Kain knows Golbez shares with him, it is the strength of their loyalty to Baron, and for Kain, to Golbez.

10 - Despair

"I shall miss your presence by my side," whispers Golbez as he walks away with Fusoya, though only Kain hears him and the Dragoon can't help but murmur back ever so quietly, "And I yours."

* In medieval times, just tossing an apple at a woman could be enough of a marriage proposal. If the lady caught it, that meant yes.

I think most FFIV fans are bound to run into each other on different sites XD Ooh, I've only ever RPed with one Cecil properly, on FF Tumblr, though I got a tad too inactive there. Incidentally a good friend of mine RPs Kain so hi more coincidences.

I'll keep that in mind~ Probably after NaNo though.

And a friend of mine asked me if I was interested in RPing Cecil to her Kain, actually... but by and large when I prowl around the 'net I generally see more Kains than other FFIV characters. (All right. So I just imagined an army of Kains. I'm not sure if that's drool-worthy or mildly terrifying. Both?)

Oh, you're doing NaNo! Good luck with it. I considered trying it once, but Nov is usually a killer month for me.

Probably because he seems to be considered one of the coolest characters around? I got my RP start on Facebook, and had a lot of Kains to choose from (my Kain rper friend only recently started on him though, she 's been FFV Faris for much longer), though not all handled him well. Army of Kains? Canon already gives us plenty of versions of him. Maybe they could be the army officers.

...I have to admit I don't know how you manage to RP on either FB or Tumblr, because both of them as RP formats seem so completely alien to me. (I've tried IM formats, tabletop, and LJ.) I didn't actually try RPing canon characters 'til... oh, early this year? With FFVI's Celes, for a minigame.

...and, good gods. I just splorfled at that mental image, although I feel sorry for anyone under the direct command of Dark!Kain.

It's mostly to do with the speed, I think. I'm not so sure about the technical stuff when it comes to RPing, so I generally just make do with it.

...and I want to draw/write this now. Army of Kains taking over Baron, maybe. Or Dissidia. The Kain Army could be a third faction.

Ah, I understand that. I mostly started out with forums and LJ, since my friends who RPed were all either tabletop or LJ RPers, and so I've just stuck with it. Tumblr confuses me as a normal user, so the idea of trying to RP with it? Completely bzuh?

I am actually picturing that. I'd apologise for bunnying you, but I'm not at all sorry... and besides, all I can think now is "Will pwn Cecil with the power of nail polish." Why, self, why?

Ah, I see. I've always wanted to try tabletop, but never got to. LJ and forums are hard for me to get into, since they sometimes feel a impersonal. I know how you feel about tumblr though >.> does not help that they've been changing a lot of stuff.

Don't be sorry at all, I'm going to enjoy this. And nail polish? YES, this must be included. I hope you don't mind if I make references to your crackfic about Cecil's hair though XD

Tabletop is difficult if you don't know people who are already into it; I was lucky in that my friend is an experienced DM and she wanted to run a live game instead of having to run one over forums with people living twelve hours or more behind (I'm in GMT +8.) I understand about the LJ/forums as well - I got used to them because I was in private threads (and still mostly am in private threads) first, and so it didn't feel as impersonal to me.

Mind? Of course not! I'm flattered, honestly. Honestly, that fic came up completely because a bunch of us started joking in chat about Cecil's amazing hair. I wrote a couple of lines and then people just started egging me on with comments and pictures of FuSoYa.

The FFIV fanbase is tiny, I guess. Most people I meet mostly like the PSX/PS2 games, which I'm fine with, but it gets a little lonely in the SNES corner sometimes. I don't even expect to meet another FF fan who's from SEAsia at all... which is odd, considering the massive turnout for things like Distant Worlds concerts. So yes, this is...

Well, technically I'm of the generation that should have grown up with PS2 games, but I only got a PS2 last year. Before that it was just a GBA, which I am ridiculously glad I got because my very first FF game was FFIVA (and thus I am not familiar with anything above VIII).

I'm just gonna sit here still going "omgomgomgomg".

That generation being? I'm an '88 girl, so the lines are a bit murky for me - although I think mine's closer to 'growing up with the PSX' as opposed to the PS2, heh.

Early 90's. I was born in '94. Well, I think we're the ones who grew up with the PS2. Every last person I know around my age seems so familiar with PS2 games.

Ah, I see! ...I've given up on classifying things by consoles, mostly because I'm also one of those people who also gets consoles later than most - I still don't have a PS3, for example (luckily, my best friend does.) But yes, in general, most people I know are familiar with PSX/PS2, which isn't so bad for me. Talk about FF13 and I'll give you this completely blank look, though. I'm happiest with IV and VI, although I'm familiar with the FFs up to FFX.

Likewise! On both the getting consoles later than people and also the not knowing a thing about XIII XD Myself, I'm most familiar with IV and V, though I've played through VI and consider myself a fan of that too :3 All three of these were on the GBA so...
